At the National Alumni Association of Shaw University (NAASU), our mission is rooted in advancing the continued growth, sustainability, and excellence of Shaw University by mobilizing alumni, students, faculty, staff, and community partners in collective action. We are committed to supporting the University in recruiting talented and mission-aligned students from diverse backgrounds, ensuring equitable access to a transformative Shaw education. We actively cultivate a culture of sustained, meaningful financial engagement among alumni, friends, and partners—recognizing that shared investment strengthens institutional capacity and expands opportunity for future generations of Bears. Our alumni are the heartbeat of Shaw. We build community across generations, sectors, and geographies—intentionally weaving our professional expertise, lived experiences, and Shaw pride to elevate the University’s presence and influence locally, nationally, and globally.
Strengthening Our Community, Together
We empower current students, strengthen our community, and amplify the impact of a Shaw University education through four key pillars:
Providing financial support to deserving students to ensure they have the resources to succeed.
Connecting students with experienced alumni to guide them on their academic and professional journeys.
Creating opportunities for alumni to connect, network, and celebrate their shared heritage.
Serving as a voice for Shaw University and its alumni, promoting the value of an HBCU education.
Raised for student scholarships and programs.
Students supported through mentorship and financial aid.
Active members in our national alumni network.
Annual events hosted by national and local chapters.
One Program at a Time
Inspired by Shaw University's "E.P.I.C." initiatives, this program provides critical funding for student-led entrepreneurial projects and innovative campus programs.
The NAASU Committees drive the mission of the Association — advancing our programs, growing membership, supporting students, and amplifying Shaw Bears globally.
